HAPPY NEW YEAR!! *blows kazoo, throws confetti, passes out*
I’m far from a night owl but I feel guilty going to sleep before midnight on New Year’s so I’m dragging a bit today, just like I do every January 1st, which always makes the new year feel like it’s off to a bad start or perhaps the year I start drinking coffee again.
I’ll get to more resolution-ish stuff later in the week, but for now, let’s have some more fun.
Did you know that there’s a full moon tonight?!
How cool is it to have a full moon on New Year’s! (Answer: pretty cool.)
You know how I budget with the moon, right? It’s, like, my thing. It’s how I “stick it to the man” and don’t conform with mainstream calendar-tracking society. *raises fist*
I’ll get back to you on how I manage my money with the moon cycles exactly, but in the spirit of the full moon and setting intentions for the new year, I thought it would be FUN to give you a money spell to play with.
Sure debt repayment calculators and budgets are helpful, but it can’t hurt to throw some magic into the mix!
Honestly, when it comes to our finances, is a little magic gonna hurt when we can use all the help we can get?
If you’re up for adding some magic to your money life, read on!
Cinnamon and chamomile are wealthy herbs. I drink a large mug of chamomile tea everyday (mostly to manage my nerves, but hey, dual-acting!) and occasionally I throw in a pinch of cinnamon (especially on days when I have big checks to clear).
A basil or thyme plant, although if you kill it, you’ll get 50 years of bad financial luck. (I’m kidding. Just 10.) I also have a money tree I bought at BJs. So far my plants have survived the past month. If The Holistic Wallet goes under, you’ll know where I went wrong.
The color green. Wear it, decorate with it, light a green candle, eat it (more kale in 2018!). Green also represents the heart chakra which is all about healing, harmony, and abundance.
GRATITUDE. Tell each bill and coin you have in your possession right now (in your wallet, couch cushions, piggy bank, etc) that you love it. Literally. Hold it and say “I love you. Thanks for being here. Invite your friends.”
And, last but not least, my personal full moon ritual:
Put a silver coin in a bowl of water, set it outside under the full moon, and recite “Lovely Lady of the Moon, Bring to me your wealth quite soon, Fill my hands with silver and gold, All you give my purse can hold.”
The next morning, take the coin out and keep it nearby as a talisman of sorts. I use the water to feed my plants (unless there’s a bug floating around in there, at which point I will dump it and run away screaming, don’t judge me).
Here’s to a healthy and prosperous 2018!
